'Beardless one' from 'Duck Dynasty' talks about shaving and the show
He’s known as the “beardless one” in a family of bearded men and he’s OK with that.
I’m talking about the Rev. Al Robertson, the oldest son of the Robertson family made famous by the hit reality TV show “Duck Dynasty.”
Al Robertson (pictured) told me in a recent interview about how he teamed up with his dad, Robertson family patriarch Phil Robertson to create the newly released “Duck Commander Faith & Family Bible.”
The minister proved to be a great interview, peppering his comments with lots of humor.
At the end of our telephone interview, just as I was about to let him go, I asked him what’s it like to be the beardless guy in a family where the men sport the long beards the Duck Commander men have become known for.
For starters, he said his wife Lisa prefers him clean shaven.
And, he said he kept himself that way because of his position as a full-time minister for the past 25 years.
Definitely, he knows he stands out on the A&E show and people just seem to want to describe him as “beardless” to distinguish him from the bearded men in his family.
“I get introduced everywhere I go as the beardless brother. Now, who else in America is being introduced as being ‘beardless’?” he said, laughing. “It makes me very unique. I'm hoping to parlay that into some success. I've told our agent that if he can't get me a razor deal with Gillette or Schick (Razor), he’s the worst agent in the world.”
“I’m having fun with it and we’re having fun with it on the show,” he added.
