Great Oklahoma River Photos By NewsOK Contributor Will Hider
I frequently feature the photography of Will Hider on OKC Central. I love his art – and it is art. He has an amazing knack for capturing our changing city in all of its vibrancy and excitement.
Will is an “aw shucks” kind of guy who will usually respond to such praise by getting out his iPad and showing even more photos. He’s not bragging, he’s not showing off – he’s simply passionate about photography and the changes he’s witnessing. Will knows downtown well – he has a very good knowledge about its history and where it’s going. And Will knows the Oklahoma River.
Will grew up in the neighborhood known as the “Top of the Town,” which is located along SE 15 and Interstate 35. The neighborhood enjoys a million dollar view of downtown, yet as Will points out, it has long been a distressed community where gangs are always present, graffiti is common place, and nothing ever really changes.
Except the downtown skyline and the Oklahoma River.
And that’s where Will takes us today. Will was one of dozens of people who participated in a recent “Instameet” with Oklahoman Photography Editor Doug Hoke and NewsOK Editor Tiffany Gibson. I’m not going to feature Will Instagram photos – instead, I’m sticking with his original, unaltered shots, which I think are among his best yet.
