Email newsletters: A great way to find what’s new on NewsOK

Here I am, writing about it — 13 years later. And it’s still perhaps the best way to get our content delivered to you digitally every day.

I’m talking about email newsletters.


We have more than a dozen of them — 13 to be exact.

A check of our archives reminds me I wrote about sports email newsletters in 2001. And then in 2004, I wrote about thousands of news emails we send every day. The New Orleans Hornets came to town, and I let everyone know how to get updates about the NBA team in daily emails in 2005.

I haven’t written about newsletters much since, maybe because we began delivering text alerts. We started video updates. We built applications and mobile sites. We went to social media — Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

We deliver news in so many ways to so many platforms, but we are still sending email newsletters. I get them every day in my inbox.

I thought about that this week, because I had a conversation with some others about newsletters. I realized how often my morning trip through my inbox leads me to read a story on NewsOK. The headline catches my attention on our news update, or a Thunder story has something I want to read.

The newsletters work.

So in 2014, I’m hoping you will sign up for one of the many options we have in our email settings:  Breaking news, Daily news, Entertainment, Parties Extra, Recipes, Specials – Discounts, Sports, Business, Commercial Real Estate, Obituaries, Thunder, OU and OSU.

All you have to do is log on to NewsOK and click on Settings. It’s located on the top right of every page. If you don’t have a NewsOK login, that’s simple too. Just click on “Create an Account” in the same area.

Get all the newsletters. They’re the best way to find what’s new on NewsOK.
