Development Update: Deep Deuce Firehouse, Maywood Apartments, Phase 2
Now that the OKC Central blog is up and running, I am trying to provide some quick updates they’re available. Two projects that have been fairly quiet of late is the Maywood Apartments, second phase, at Walnut Avenue and NE 3, and the “fire house” home to be built by Ron Walters along NE 1 east of Oklahoma Avenue.
Ron Bradshaw and Charlie Nicholas, who recently completed the 139-unit Maywood Apartments at NE 4 and Oklahoma, previously indicated they were to start construction a year ago on a 160-unit, $20 million second phase of the Maywood Apartments planned for NE 4 and Walnut. A year later, the site is cleared and that’s it.
The development also includes conversation of an 80-year-old former Conoco station facing Walnut Avenue that would be leased out to retail tenants. I checked with Bradshaw and was informed the project is still moving forward, that it is awaiting final plan approval by HUD for its part of the financing. The city, meanwhile, is finalizing tax increment financing for the project.
Ron Walters, meanwhile, is indicating he is still going through plans for a “firehouse” style home on NE 1 that is to feature an elevator, three-car garage, three bedrooms, a study and game room.
