A look at the development of Tuesday's dust storm, National Weather Service, Norman

Provided by the National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office:

“Drought conditions in the southern high plains and strong winds created areas of blowing dust and dirt that moved into Oklahoma and north Texas on Tuesday.

“West winds brought dust east from west Texas, and north winds behind a cold front brought a lot of dust from Colorado, Kansas and the Panhandles.

“Visibility was 3 miles or less due to the blowing dust at times at Wichita Falls, Lawton, Clinton, Hobart and Altus, and down to 4 miles briefly at Oklahoma City.”
