FYI: From the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Texas (for an idea of what is to the west)

From the National Weather Service, Amarillo (Texas) Forecast Office (as of 10:46 a.m.) …A  band of light snow and sleet stretches from southern Kansas into the southern Texas panhandle. This band continue will move to the east northeast through the early afternoon hours…impacting locations east of a Guymon, Okla. to Vega, Texas line. within this band of sleet and snow…accumulations will mostly remain less than one inch. Roads will quickly become covered…and will likely lead to slick spots.

Periods of light snow will affect the northwest panhandles through the early afternoon hours…but amounts will be less than one half inch. However…better chances for heavier snow in the northwest panhandles will likely occur after 1 pm as the main upper trough approaches from the west.

Otherwise…very cold conditions will continue throughout the day with temperatures in the single digits and teens. Wind chill values will range between 0 and 15 degrees below zero.
