Seeking the 12 best cookies in Oklahoma

Who makes homemade cookies anymore?

This week on NewsOK, we’re setting out to find the best homemade cookies recipe in our state.

It should be educational for me. I once thought the cookies that come in a tube and instruct you to turn on the oven were ‘homemade,’ but apparently that’s not true.

Cookies come in a box. They come in a mix. They come in a bag. But the cookies that come from a stained, faded, handwritten piece of paper in a cabinet? Those are usually the best.

Here’s an example:

These cookies clearly didn’t come from a sealed bag.

Do you have a family recipe that can top the chocolate cherry cookies above?

If you do, please share it with me and the rest of the users on NewsOK who are closely watching this year’s installment of the “12 Days of Cookies” contest.

The contest is sponsored by Hiland Dairy. And if you are one of the 12 bakers who submitted one of the best recipes, you will win a year of free milk.

I’m lucky enough to not have the job of grocery shopping in my family, but I know that milk isn’t cheap. And I know that free milk is better than full-priced milk.

We are accepting cookie recipe submissions through Nov. 30. Just go to newsok.com/cookie-contest, sign up and click the ‘Submission’ tab to share your holiday cookies recipe. It’s really a simple process. And it’s even better if you can share a photo of the cookies

Starting on Dec. 1, we’ll unveil the 12 winning recipes on the same page — one per day. That’s when the 12 days of cookies countdown begins.

Show the world that homemade cookies are still the best. Share them with us.
