NewsOK's Vines give six-second glance into our stories

I'm busy.

Work. Family. Hobbies. Activities.

I'm really busy.

So is everybody else. Rarely does someone tell me how they have way too much free time.

Who would want to admit that, right?

This busy world makes it hard to sit back and consume high-quality journalism. Our reporters' researched and vetted stories take time to read. If it's going to be a lot of words, it better be great. That's the world we live in.

Meanwhile, short stories tend to resonate better with the online audience. We see it every day. The data proves it.

The fact is that short, quick blog posts perform better on NewsOK.com than long-form stories on the same topic. Sometimes, we use those blogs posts as introductions to longer stories.

And for our mobile audience? It's even quicker.

We're busy. And we're distracted. Our attention span is shorter.

But I do have six seconds.

Everyone has six seconds to spare.

That's the idea behind our initiative to create a new Vine video each week. News web editor Tiffany Gibson has teamed with videographer Kyle Roberts to come up with some good six-second stories for our readers.

If you aren't familiar with Vine, it's a social media platform for mobile phones. You can take a series of quick video clips and put them into a six-second loop.

On paper, it sounds silly.

To the creatively challenged, it is silly.

To storytellers who are always looking for a new angle, it's a neat way to share an idea.

The Vine that Kyle produced on Halloween Day — well, it was simple, creative and fun.

We're using these Vines to promote our stories and our products. We're also hoping they are entertaining enough to spend a little time.

So spend a minute downloading Vine today. Follow NewsOK's Vine profile.

Then you can enjoy the news in six-second increments.
