Baby, what were your parents thinking when they named you?
Before my second daughter was born, I pored through baby name books and thought about the perfect name for my child.
I decided that Luna would be the perfect name, since I love the moon. However, my husband would not agree to the name, protesting my choice and stating the poor child would be subjected to name calling, like “Looney Luna.”
I still like the name, although I will concede hormones might have been influencing my judgment on names.
I absolutely refused to make her middle name Irene, my husband’s mother’s name. Now, I regret it … and he – and my daughter – remind me periodically of my mistake.
So, for those who want to explore names for their new arrivals, I thought I’d share the Barnes & Noble Book Blog entry “7 Quirky Baby Name Books.”
