Bald is sexy. And cold.
A man named Les wasted no time removing all hair from my head. Cold metal to the dome. No small talk typical of the barber chair. Just sit down, click on the clippers. And watch the hair fall to the floor.
It’s not a far step for me to go from Guard #2 to bald. So it’s hardly any sacrifice at all in my case.
St. Baldrick’s is a wonderful event: raising money and awareness for kids with cancer.

But I must admit, it is a strange feeling to have this little amount of hair. It’s one thing to feel the strangeness of stubble on top of my head. It would be quite another situation to deal with an illness and all the tragedy associated with it that caused hair loss.
I cannot imagine the bravery of anyone with cancer. But especially the terror kids with cancer must face.
A couple hundred people stepped on stage Sunday outside VZD’s, donating money and letting a stranger wrap them in that barber cloth and work them over. Men, women, kids. All shared the coldness Sunday brought and some cash for the cause. Over $100,000 raised Sunday.
Cold breeze and no hair. It’s a strange feeling.
