POPS Goes the Christmas Tree
ARCADIA — POPS Route 66 is getting into the holiday spirit tomorrow evening with its first-ever Christmas Tree lighting. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at POPS, 660 W State Highway 66.
The free event is open to all ages. At 6 p.m., the Putnam City North High School Show Choir will perform. At 7 p.m., the switch is flipped to light up a 23-foot Noble Fir in the POPS backyard. The Net Gospel Choir is also scheduled to perform.
Santa Claus in for a soda or two while taking orders for the big day, plus complimentary photos. POPS is also an official toy donation location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. People are encouraged to drop by POPS in November and December to donate new, unwrapped toys. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens.

The tree will be illuminated from 5:00pm to 10:00pm daily, through New Year’s Day. The tree, a Noble Fir spruce, is illuminated by 3,000 environmentally friendly LED lights that mimic the colors of the iconic POPS bottle.
I’ll be there with the family, hope to see you, too.
