Local Chefs to Compete in Pairsine on Thursday

Chef Michael Powell, fresh off his victory at the Oswalt Culinary Cook-Off, will compete in Thursday night’s Pairsine competition. Pairsine is the brain-child of Wine Country Network, Inc, a multi-platform media company, dedicated to educating consumers about wine, cuisine and travel. Oklahoma City is part of its ongoing national tour, which began in New York City in April and concludes in San Diego in December.

Taking on the executive chef of Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club who wowed judges with his mussel broth and technical expertise will be crowd-favorite Bruce Rinehart, Chef/Owner, Rococo Restaurant & Fine Wine; “Oklahoma Cooks” host Marc Dunham, ChefDirector of Culinary Arts, Francis Tuttle Tech, Daniel Nemec, Executive Chef, Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse; Alison Dake-Mann, Executive Pastry Chef, Deep Fork Grill; Jonathan Turney, chef at Urban Wineworks; and Mark Vannasdall, Executive Chef, The Restaurants at Chesapeake, who was one of the judges to help Powell to victory.

The event challenges chefs on their ability to create gourmet cuisine to pair with an assigned premium quality wine. Professional judges and all attendees get to taste every chefs food & wine pairings and vote for Best Chef, Most Creative Chef and The People’s Choice Chef.

Pairsine Oklahoma City is Thursday Sept. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cole’s Garden Event Center, 415 NE 63 St. Wines from Michael David Winery and Van Ruiten Family Winery of Lodi, California will be showcased as chefs create 14 culinary pairings to match with 14 wines. A silent auction of art and collectible items will be presented by Third Coast Collectibles.
The Pairsine Chefs Food & Wine Competitions were established in Denver in 2005.
