OU football: Is compliance fun? It is on Twitter
There are plenty of Oklahoma football players on Twitter.
But they aren’t the only ones related to the program using the social networking site.
OU’s compliance office has a Twitter account (@OUCompliance), and even though what the folks there do is serious business, they have some fun on Twitter. Football players are regularly seen asking off-the-wall questions via Twitter to the compliance office. For example, former tight end Trent Ratterree once asked: “Is wagering money on the end of the world coming in 2012 an NCAA violation?”
The players have such a good time with it that the compliance office did a video earlier this year with Tony Jefferson and Drew Allen. Check it out above. It’s short and pretty amusing.
In all seriousness, though, it is pretty cool that @OUCompliance exists. (Oklahoma State has a similar Twitter account, @OSU_Compliance, though it doesn’t look like there’s much fun banter between it and Cowboy athletes.) In this day and age of social media and instant information, it gives fans and players a direct link to the people who best know what’s legal and what’s not according to the NCAA.
It’s not just for funny videos and humorous tweets, though those are nice side benefits.
