Oklahoma City man arrested on complaints of rape, kidnapping
Police arrested an Oklahoma City man Wednesday night on complaints of rape and kidnapping after a woman told officers he hit her in the head with a liquor bottle and raped her.
Billy Joe Harbert, 58, was being held Thursday in the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of domestic violence, rape, forcible sodomy and kidnapping.
The victim told police she has been dating Harbert for a year and a half and the two started living together four months ago. She said he came home about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to their apartment in the 200 block of NE 28 and started accusing her of having an affair with his nephew.
Police said the woman told officers Harbert hit her in the head with a liquor bottle and hit the back of her arms with a stick.
The woman said that during the altercation, Harbert told her he would kill her if she tried to leave.
Harbert continued to beat her and then forced her to perform oral sex, according to a police report.
The woman said he then raped her.
She said she was able to escape by pretending to get something to drink in the kitchen and running out of the apartment.
Police said the woman suffered injuries and needed to have her hand X-rayed to see if it was broken.
Harbert was taken into custody. Bail hadn't been set as of Thursday evening.
